Week 2 Task - Exploring Filters

Hi everyone,

This is my regular weekly post to let you know what we intend to cover in the session and an example of photo editing using PS Elements.

This week we will start to explore the huge Filters section and the range of effects which can be created with just a few clicks of the mouse. To the right are two versions of the same picture of a well known local landmark. The second one has a Artistic Filter applied, I used the Watercolour effect filter. Try this on a picture of your choice and then try one of the many other filters from this section.

Getting started

Hi there all you digital photographers, welcome to the online learner diaries.
This blog page will allow you to post your thoughts and comments on how the course is going, what you have learned and how you intend to use the skills in your own time.

Feel free to be critical as well as complimentary but always constructive using appropriate language. This blog is intended to be the official record of learner progress and the effectiveness of the course, it will be viewed by Dudley MBC Adult Education staff, other learners and perhaps other interested parties so please bear that in mind.

A regular, weekly entry or post with picture evidence is probably best. I'll be running through the process during the second week and will give assistance, particularly if you're new to blogging!

These are the course aims:

To Gain a better understanding of digital cameras and their common functions

To learn how to use advanced features of Adobe Photoshop Elements for image manipulation.

and Group Learning Outcomes:

A) Be aware of additional image editing software and how to source it

B) To explore creative use of a camera

C) To learn how to use filters and layers within PS Elements to enable improved image manipulation
